Voting for NRI to be decided before February

Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) will get to know before February whether they will be able to cast their votes in the 2019 Indian elections from abroad.

India’s Supreme Court said it would hear the petitions related to voting rights for NRIs in January 2019.

The Supreme Court said this after it was informed that a bill to amend the electoral law to allow NRIs to vote is likely to come up before the Rajya Sabha, in this winter session.
